Find the battery hatch, and make sure that it is set to "open." Use a flathead screwdriver, coin, or other similar tool to open the hatch wide. Next, carefully pry the battery from its socket by lifting it up on the side that is closest to the key-ring loop. Make sure that you use rubber gloves to avoid damaging the clips or electronic contact surfaces.

Insert the new battery into the socket once the old one has been removed. Make sure that the positive side is facing upwards and that it is seated in all of the clips. Then, slide the cover back down and towards the key-ring loop section until it becomes loose and slides off. Then, lift the cover and reveal the mechanical key blade hidden inside. This can be used to unlock your vehicle from the driver's side if you have lost or damaged your key fob.
